For many decades, reading instruction in Hispanic America was carried out using alphabetic, phonetic, and syllabic methods, which scholars and linguists questioned as they believed that letters or syllables didn't provide meaningful content. "Coquito" innovates this methodology and introduces the Whole Word Method, whose core and foundation are the Integrated Sets composed of noun-words that do provide meaning. Additionally, the book is enriched with important paratexts that contribute to systematic, engaging, and agile learning of initial reading.
